Joseph T. Farquharson is a Lecturer in the Department of Liberal Studies at the University of Technology, Jamaica. He is also an advanced Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy at the University of the West Indies (Mona) , and has held a doctoral fellowship (2005-2008) in the Department of Linguistics, at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. Joseph also co-ordinates the Jamaican Lexicography Project (Jamlex). His published and forthcoming works cover topics such as language and literature, socio-pragmatics, morphology, historical lexicography, and etymology. He is currently co-editing with Lars Hinrichs (University of Texas, Austin ) a book on variation in Caribbean language varieties His Ph.D. project is on the (West) African lexis in Jamaican Creole.
