Joseph T. Farquharson is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy at the University of the West Indies (Mona) , and a doctoral fellow (since May 2005) in the Department of Linguistics, at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. Joseph also co-ordinates the Jamaican Lexicography Project (Jamlex). His published and forthcoming works cover topics such as language and literature, socio-pragmatics, morphology, historical lexicography, and etymology. He is currently co-editing with Lars Hinrichs (University of Texas, Austin ) a book on variation in Caribbean language varieties His Ph.D. project is on the (West) African lexis in Jamaican Creole.
